A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT SOFIE BRONN

Sofie lives in Jerusalem, a city with rich religious and spiritual traditions and often very complicated day-to-day living. This just goes to show that no matter where you live and what kind of situation you’re in, you can build a life that you love. These days Sofie lives and breathes fiction writing, divination, and the study of traditional Renaissance astrology as practiced in Europe between ca. 1200-1700. Sofie’s main area of interest is mitigating and resolving inner, as well as interpersonal stress. Her interest in holistic health began in 2009 with the study of essential oils and aromatherapy. Especially the way that scents trigger memories and emotions influenced the way she incorporates oils and plants into her day-to-day life and that of her family for 16 years now.

“Every herb has been created for some purpose; nothing in nature is without meaning.” —  Avicenna (Ibn Sina, 980–1037) – The Canon of Medicine

Since 2010 Sofie has practiced Vipassana meditation as taught by Satya Narayan Goenka (1924-2013), in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin (1899-1971). She learned the technique of Vipassana first at Dhamma Sota meditation center near Delhi, India, and in 2013 she returned to India to deepen her meditation studies at Dhamma Sikhara, in the Himalayan cedar forests just above McLeod Ganj, the seat of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Also in 2013, she spent time in spiritual retreat at the Tibetan Buddhist Thosamling Nunnery in Sidhpur, India. One day, just as the sun was setting over the beautiful rice paddies, she was introduced for the first time to the transformational powers of Tai Chi (tàijí quán) and Qigong. This lead to a deeper interest in physical modes of spiritual practice and how the mind-body continuum influences well-being.

In 2018 Sofie received her B.A. in International Relations from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, focusing on the geopolitics and environmental costs of green energy. In 2019 she completed training in professional mediation and in 2020 she received her M.A. (magna cum laude) in Conflict Research, Management and Resolution from the Hebrew University’s Swiss Center.
